  • Participating in financial management, from the preparation and analysis of responsible budgetary plans and decision making, to the development of capital investment proposals.

BSBFIM601 Manage Finances Undertaking budgeting, financial forecasting and reporting requirements, and to allocate and manage resources to achieve the required outputs for the business unit. It includes contributing to financial bids and estimates, allocating funds, managing budgets and reporting on financial activity. 

It covers all areas of broad financial management. In a larger organisation this work would be supported by specialists in financial management.

BSBINN601 Lead and manage organisational change By the of this unit you will be able to determine strategic change requirements and opportunities; and to develop, implement and evaluate change management strategies.
It applies to managers with responsibilities that extend across the organisation or across significant parts of a large organisation. They may have a dedicated role in human resources management, human resources development, or work in a strategic policy or planning area.
Innovation is seen as an important attitude and set of practices which should be fostered by people working at this level in teams and across the organisation.
BSBMGT605 Provide Leadership across the organisation This unit will look at what is required to demonstrate senior leadership behaviour and personal and professional competence. Business ethics are also addressed in this unit.
It applies to individuals who have a role in inspiring and motivating others to achieve organisational goals and to model professionalism in their organisation and industry. Leadership is seen in the context of the organisational mission.
BSBMGT617 Develop and implement a business plan This unit looks at requirements to run a business operation and covers the steps required to develop and implement a business plan.
It applies to individuals who are running an organisation or who take a senior role in determining the effective functioning and success of the organisation. As such, they may oversee the work of a number of teams and other managers.

FNSSAM602 Identify and evaluate marketing opportunities in the financial services industry This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to evaluate market data, define new and emerging market trends and assess the viability of new product development to take advantage of marketing opportunities.
It applies to individuals who use specialised knowledge, systematic approaches and analytical skills to provide leadership in strategic organisational activity.
BSBMGT608 Manage innovations and continuous improvement Sustain and develop an environment in which continuous improvement, innovation and learning are promoted and rewarded. 

Continuous improvement and innovation have links with the model of the learning organisation and people working at this level play an important role in building the culture, values and attitudes of the organisation.

Links may be made between continuous improvement and formal quality systems such as International Standardization for Organisation (ISO) or quality software. However it is not assumed that formal quality systems or software are in the workplace.

Innovation is seen as an important attitude and set of practices which should be fostered by people working at this level in teams and across the organisation.

BSBMGT616 Develop and implement a strategic plan This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish the strategic direction of the organisation, sustain competitive advantage and enhance competitiveness. It covers analysis and interpretation of relevant markets, capability assessment of the organisation and analysis of the organisation’s existing and potential competitors and allies. It also covers implementation of the strategic plan and developing specific actions and initiatives that will be undertaken by people working in various roles.
BSBMKG609 Develop a marketing plan Research, develop and present a marketing plan for an organisation. Developing specific marketing strategies and tactics in accordance with the organisation’s overall marketing objectives. 

Individuals operating at this level may receive input from people working under their supervision who collect information required to devise specific marketing strategies and tactics.

BSBHRM602 Manage human resources strategic planning This unit applies to individuals who either are employed as human resource managers or require a firm grounding in a range of human resource activities. 

The unit describes how leaders develop, implement and maintain a strategic approach to managing human resources in an organisation ensuring that the organisation has the structure and staff to meet current and foreseeable business and performance objectives

 BSBRSK501  Manage Risk  Manage risks in a range of contexts across the organisation or for a specific business unit or area. This unit addresses the management of the risk across the organisation or within a business unit or area. It does not assume any given industry setting.
 BSBMGT615 Contribute to organisation development Contributing to the creation of an organisation development plan is a key skill set required by leaders. This unit discusses how leaders can ensure their organisation becomes more effective over time in achieving its goals. 

It applies to those staff who are critically involved in shaping and focussing the organisation so that it can adapt to new technologies, challenges and markets.

BSBMGT619 Identify and implement business innovation Business innovation is a key area in any business. This unit looks at the market context and current business processes to identify and implement opportunities for innovation and reform in an organisation. 

It is recommended for people managing a knowledge management or systems development team, or working in a senior role in such a team. Those with line management responsibility would undertake this role.
